Indian researchers continue to shine globally. Three scientists from Bengaluru have been honoured with one of the country’s biggest science awards.

The Tata Group announced the winners of the Tata Transformation Prize 2025 on November 19. Dr P.V. Shivaprasad, Dr Balsubramanian Gopal, and Dr Ambarish Ghosh – all from Bengaluru institutions – received the award for groundbreaking work in biology and nanotechnology.
The prize carries a substantial cash reward and national recognition. The jury praised their research for real-world applications that can transform healthcare, materials, and energy sectors. Accepting the honour, the winners thanked their teams and said the prize will help take their projects to the next level.
Tata Trusts introduced this award to celebrate Indian innovation that solves big societal problems. Bengaluru, often called India’s science capital, once again proved its strength. Young students watching the ceremony felt inspired to choose research careers.
The government also congratulated the winners and promised more funding for basic science. Such recognitions are vital to keep talent within the country and build an Atmanirbhar Bharat in cutting-edge technology.
